George Popescu   George is the Managing Partner of Block X Ventures, Co-founder and CEO of Lampix, and the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Lending Times and  Blockchain Times .    George is also an advisor for  FirstBlood , an eSports gaming platform, and Chairman of the Board of Advisors for  Gatecoin , a bitcoin and ethereum token exchange based in Hong Kong. Previously George was a partner at LunaCap Ventures, a hybrid early stage growth capital fund. George also advises over a dozen companies in finance.    George had a successful exit from Boston Technologies (BT) in 2014. BT was a technology, market maker, high-frequency trading and inter-broker broker-dealer in the foreign exchange spot, precious metals and CFDs space company. George was the Founder and CEO and grew the firm to $20M + in revenue without taking equity investment. BT was listed in the Fastest-Growing Private Companies in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal in 2011. BT has been on the Inc. 500/5000 list of fastest growing companies in the US for 4 years in a row ( #143, #373, #897 and #1270), and Boston Business Journal included George in the top 40 under 40 in 2012 in recognition of his business achievements. After the sale of Boston Technologies, George was Head-of-Strategy for  Currency Mountain , a USD 100 million+ holding company focused on retail and medium institutional currencies.  George has obtained 3 Master's Degrees: a Master's of Science from MIT working on 3D printing, a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Supelec, France and a Master's in Nanosciences from Paris XI University. She is an experienced capital markets professional with a background encompassing blockchain, crowdfunding, venture capital, and investment banking.  She served as director of capital markets and development at StreetShares, a marketplace lender focused on providing small business loans to veteran-owned companies funded by Institutional, Regulation A and Regulation D investors. At StreetShares she led all strategic initiatives for investor products. She also played a key role in raising the company’s $23 million Series B financing. Previously, she was a senior associate executing venture debt transactions for LunaCap Ventures and was an investment banking associate with Houlihan Lokey.  A former captain in the United States Marine Corps, she served as communications and operations officer and held strategic roles assisting in re-designing the USMC Force and overseeing anti-terrorism efforts for U.S. Central Command in Afghanistan. She holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School and a BA in Quantitative Economics from the United States Naval Academy.
